Turkey Dog Food Recipe
This simple homemade dog food recipe combines lean ground turkey, chopped vegetables, rice, and oats into a balanced, hearty meal for your pup. The turkey is gently cooked and mixed with finely chopped peas and carrots, then simmered with oats and water before adding cooked rice for texture and fullness. It’s easy to batch-prep, fridge- and freezer-friendly, and can be customized with different veggies or even a spoonful of unsweetened applesauce for extra flavor your dogs will love. 🐾
Equipment
- Ninja Express Chop or Blender
- Stock pot
- Containers for fridge & freezer
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 12 oz package frozen peas & carrots
- 1 cup cooked rice white or brown
- 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
- 3 cups water (approx)
Instructions
- Over low heat thoroughly cook ground turkey, chopping to appropriate size for your dog.
- While turkey is slowly cooking, add the frozen veggies to the Ninja Express Chop and chop veggies to the appropriate size for you dog.
- Add the veggies to the turkey. To rinse all the veggies, fill the Ninja Express base with water(about 3 cups)and add the water to the cooking turkey and veggies.
- Add oatmeal to the cooking turkey and veggies and combine all. (If mixture is too dry, you can add more water)
- Let the turkey, veggies, water and oatmeal simmer, cooking out most of the water and cooking the oatmeal. About 10 minutes.
- Add cooked rice.
- Let cool before storing. I usually double batch, so I end up with 5 containers. One for the fridge and the others for the freezer.
Notes
I have also added unsweetened applesauce to this recipe and the pups gobble it up.
